Traditional ovens are used for any cooking process needed in a recipe, from baking to defrosting to broiling, but toaster ovens are catching up with some useful features that enable them to perform a variety of functions. Back in the days, toaster ovens used to resemble toaster and were used to toast bread but nowadays they can be used for defrosting, baking, roasting, toasting, or broiling. Therefore, the choice could limit to personal preferences rather than performance or versatility.

Traditional ovens are larger, more powerful, and use more energy than the smaller toaster ovens, so it you are concern about your consumption, you might want to use a toaster oven. It warms faster that the traditional oven and can bake the food faster, which also limits the amount of heat it creates, especially during the hot season. If you want to reduce the amount of food you prepare and eat, you should opt for a toaster oven instead of a traditional one.
